Recently, in Ignacio County, construction workers were working on the site for a new elementary school, when they found four human bodies on site. In the next few months, 26 bodies were found. These bodies were apparently buried about a century ago in the recently rediscovered cemetery. They have found that many of the bodies are Native American belonging to the Southern Ute Tribe, however not much has been said about exhuming the bodies out of respect for the tribe. Construction will continue on the site so that the school will be able to open.
