Possibly due to the many school shootings in the past few years, Michigan’s Portage Schools are getting 600, 000 dollars worth of new security systems. They, like many schools, are taking advantage of the summer months to work on these projects while kids are out. They are doing this work so that staff at the buildings will be given more secure entrances. Some of the buildings are a bit more difficult because they are older and the offices were built more towards the middle of the building. They will have to relocate the offices spaces. Schools should be secure and ready by the time classes start back up.
